Hello absolutely amazing friends and family!!! For starters I promise that I'm not making this a standard practice where I send out a message every other week, so sorry I promise I'll get better. For my quick spiritual thought, I want to talk about one of the greatest gifts the world has ever received and that is The Book of Mormon. Today marks my eight month anniversary of serving a mission and to this day my testimony of the Book of Mormon and its truthfulness increases daily. As mentioned previously the Book of Mormon is one of the greatest gifts we have ever been given and is not only an evidence to Joseph Smith's prophetic call, but also that the heavens are not sealed and revelation is still received. Through this Book we learn of our purpose in this life by its invitation to ponder the potential of eternal life and "never ending happiness" (Mosiah 2:41). We also receive clarification on certain ordinances such as the sacrament, baptism, and structure of prayer. All of these principles are extremely valuable, but above all the single most important aspect of the Book of Mormon is that it is another testament of Jesus Christ and that by reading and pondering its words anyone can come closer to God (introduction page). I know without a doubt that Joseph Smith was a man called of God to be a prophet and translate this ancient record for our own salvation. The words stamped onto the front are true as it really is "Another Testament of Jesus Christ" and that by reading from it with real intent YOU WILL come closer to God. I invite you all whether your testimony of the Book of Mormon is strong, in the process of growing, or non-existent to read from it and pray with real intent if The Book of Mormon is true. I can promise you that you will receive a personal answer that you will never forget.
So, you may be wondering what's up with the email caption. Three words. Essential Oil Diffuser. While we were cleaning out our apartment Elder McMullin stumbled upon an official Doterra Essential oil diffuser complete with an impressive collection of lavender, kumquat, and pine oils. In my infinite wisdom I decided to mix all the oils into a "natural healing mist" to cleanse our apartment and bring in good karma. Little did I know that when you mix oils they actually concentrate each other and being emitting gas. Needless to say, we got back from Church to a literal cloud of essential oil healing mist and had to air out the apartment for DAYS. To this day our carpet still smells like pine, kumquat, and Lavender.
FRIEND UPDATE!!!! Okay literally some of the coolest people live here in Rapid City! With there being many Native American Reservations around we are teaching so many super cool Native Americans. It is always such a cool experience to teach modern day Laminates about their heritage through the Book of Mormon and that there is more to life than alcohol and drugs. We have been teaching this amazing native couple named Feather and Skeets who are really progressing and asking us each morning for scriptures to read and how to pray better each and every day. The best part is though (although their engagement and interest are amazing) that they are not married meaning there is a chance that Elder McMullin could attend and plan both a wedding and a baptism, my two favorite things with my two favorite people in the same week!!!! We also have been teaching another awesome native grandma who has literally 8 grandkids living with her who she wants to learn the Bible and be baptized by proper authority- what a coincidence we can do both :) Needless to say I love it down here in Rapid City!!
All in all, this week has been so awesome and full of so many miracles that it’s impossible to fit them all into this email. I'm so grateful to be able to serve a mission and to be able to teach and testify of Christ 24/7. Love and miss you all so much, not a day goes by that I don't miss you all!!! Love ya, see you next week!!!
